Accomplishments of others are always a good foundation for an idea that had seeded in our brains. The stories and examples can water that seed and one day that seed will grow into a tree of business and give shade to many employees and stakeholders and most importantly the consumers. The paths that they had treaded can be used as prototypes for your way to success.
A few archetypes of successes are
AKQA: It was founded by Ajaz Ahmed when he (was) just 21 which did gather much attention in a negative way than positive. The company works in digital advertising. The company likes to keep a low profile to balance out the grandeur of their high profile clients like McDonald’s, Virgin, Xbox 360, Nike and many more. It does not have a long list of clients because they believe in dedicated work. Each client has a team dedicated to it. It has shown outstanding growth in the last decade.
Innocent Drinks: It was founded in 1999 and produced smoothies and flavoured spring water. Coca Cola has 58% stake in the company. The feel of the company is very juvenile. Even the website has been designed in a way that would appeal to kids. It ranked 40th in the list of fastest growing private companies.
Moonfruit: It is web building and hosting company which provides clients with user friendly self building technology to build their websites. It was a big hit when it was started nearly a decade back. But gradually because of the dot com crash it nearly went bankrupt. Before that it had 40,000 clients. The founder Tan White and her team worked day and night and came with some great promotion ideas. One of the famous promotional gimmicks was in 2009 of giving away Apple Mac Book pro to the best tweet of a particular day. This campaign lasted for 10 days and was a hit. The turnover that year was £1.9m.
The Black Farmer: It is a range of food products started by Emmanuel-Jones, the celebrity traveller. He works for the upliftment of ethnic minorities working in the rural community and have been under represented for so many years. Jones was a dyslexic, making his learning days really gruesome and difficult for him. He had toiled in his farms since childhood and now has turned it into a successful business.
Forward: It was a business idea that had started in a bedroom and in the brain of Neil Hutchinson, the founder. It was incorporated in 2004 and works in the field of affiliate marketing and is a renowned web publishing group. Forward was awarded 91st place in the best small companies to work for list and was one of only 158 companies to achieve 2 Star Status by Sunday Times.
